Kim Marie Leininger VanScyoc, 64, of Hanover, finished her journey on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at UPMC Pinnacle Hanover.
Born on Wednesday, June 30, 1954 in Hagerstown, MD, she was a daughter of Gladys Louise Stumbaugh Leininger of Chambersburg and the late Donald Christman Leininger. Kim was last employed by Burlington Coat Factory, holding various positions and for many years, was once the Master Gardner at the Chambersburg Country Club. Kim was a Gettysburg National Military Park Licensed Battlefield Guide and one of the first persons to become a Park Watch Volunteer when that program was initiated in the mid 1990’s. She was a longtime Secretary of the Gettysburg Civil War Roundtable and former President of the Cumberland Valley Civil War Roundtable. Kim cherished her family and loved many things from history to flowers, plants, books, stuffed animals, real animals, mascots, people, working, cleaning and having a beer, hot dog and peanuts at baseball games. She was proud of the Stanley Cup Champion Washington Capitals and enjoyed following the Hershey Bears. One of her other favorite pastimes was watching Bucknell basketball and visiting Williamsburg, VA, Charleston, SC and Savannah, GA.
Surviving in addition to her mother, is her companion for many years, Jim Pangburn; a twin sister, Kris Jo Johns and her husband, Darwin, and sister, Becky A. Hudson and her husband, Michael; three nephews, Sean Hudson and his fiance, Lindsey and their daughter Ava, and Alec and Drew Hudson; two nieces, Jamie McCabe and her husband, Mike, and Kelly Elliott; many aunts, uncles, cousins; and her two feline daughters, Jasmine and Alfredo. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jenny Fife.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 7 pm Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
