Kent B. Spangler, 75, of Abbottstown, passed away peacefully Monday, July 20, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born on Saturday, February 3, 1940 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Raymond Curtis and Mildred Elizabeth Brendle Spangler. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Jane Coulson.
A 1958 graduate of Eichelberger High School, he served with the United States Army and retired in 1999 from Caterpillar after 30 years of service. He was active with the Hanover Camp since the age of 18 and was a member of the Harold H. Bair American Legion Post #14 for 31 years. He took great pleasure in metal detecting; and was an avid hunter, especially enjoying hunting small game and deer.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Lindy A. Spangler; two sons, Scott C. Spangler and his wife, Rebecca, of Spring Grove, and Kip R. Spangler and his wife, Crystal Hertz, of York Springs; three grandchildren, Christopher S. Spangler, Zachary M. Spangler, and Lindy S. Spangler; and one great-grandchild, Michael S. Altland.
A private service is being planned.
