Kathryn L. “Kathy” Garland, 63, wife of Douglas Garland of Glenville, entered into God’s eternal care Friday, January 14, 2011 at her home.
Born September 21, 1947 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Jerome A. and Betty Jane Fuhrman Noel. She was also preceded in death by her son, David Wayne Nickey; and two sisters, Jerry Lynn Lerew and Victoria Kaye Reay.
Kathy was a devoted employee of Hanover Pen Company – HPC Global for many years and was a member of Lake Marburg Baptist Church. She enjoyed crafts and playing cards with her card club.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of 37 years, are her two daughters, Dianna Lynn Slutzker and her husband, David, of Clearwater, FL, and Melanie Sue Garland and her husband, Patrick Gabriel, of Orlando, FL; three brothers, Glenn Fuhrman and his wife, Yvonne, Jerome Noel and his wife, Barbara Noel, and Bruce Noel and his wife, Jeanette, all of Hanover; three sisters, Susan Stambaugh and her husband, James, and Jean Hair, all of Hanover, and Cindy Null of Biglerville; four grandchildren, Heather Nickey, Amanda Parady, Caitlin Parady, and Kyle Parady; and two great-grandchildren, Celeste Mears and Noah Van Pelt all of Clearwater, FL.
The funeral will be held at 12 noon Monday, January 17, 2011 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with Pastor Mark Rasnake officiating. Burial will follow in Marburg Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Glenn Fuhrman, Jerome Noel, Bruce Noel, Zane Garland, Jean Hair and Susan Stambaugh.
The family will receive friends at a viewing to be held from 6-8:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice of Spring Grove and Hanover, 440 N. Madison Street, Hanover, PA 17331.
