Kathleen L. "Kate" Toal

Kathleen L. “Kate” Toal, 79, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at home surrounded by her family.

Born on Wednesday, July 28, 1943 in McSherrystown, she was a daughter of the late Joseph J. and Mary Pauline Eline Staub. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Marlene Staub and her husband, Nick. She was a 1961 graduate of Delone Catholic High School. Kate worked at Hanover Shoe as a buyer for 15 years, retiring in 1996. She then attended Consolidated School of Business from 1996-1998, earning an Associate Degree in Medical Administration. Finally, she spent 15 years at UCP South Central PA, retiring in 2015. Kate was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and her favorite times were spent with family. She also enjoyed trips to the beach, gardening, poolside weekends with family and playing cards with “pot-luck” dinners.

Survivors include three children, Shanon R. Toal, Jr. and his companion, Donna Neiderer, of Hanover, Neil P. Toal, and his fiancée, Patricia Bowman, of New Oxford and Kathy Toal-Philipsen and her husband, Chris Mumma, of Hanover; three grandchildren, Cameron Philipsen of Carrollton, TX, Jacob Toal of Hanover, and Kaitlyn Philipsen of Duryea, PA; three sisters, Donna Wildasin and her husband, Jim, Maxine Staub, and Janet Homan and her husband, Jeff; five brothers, Philip Staub and his wife, Joanne, Wayne Staub and his wife, Deb, James Staub and his wife, Martha, Ronald Staub and his wife, Zina, and Alan Staub and his wife, Joyce; and many nieces and nephews.

A gathering for family and friends will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 4 to 6:00 PM at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc, 311 Broadway in Hanover. A prayer service will follow at 6:00 PM.
