Kathleen N. Baker, 91, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Hanover Hall Nursing Center.
Born on Sunday, September 23, 1923 in Carroll County, MD, she was a daughter of the late Curvin and Esta Tawney Bechtel, and wife of the late George Baker. She was a member of the New Hope Faith Community Church.
Kathleen was formerly employed as a custodian of the Hanover VFW Post # 2506, where she was a life member and had also served as a past president, secretary and treasurer. She was a past president of the PA State VFW District 21 which consists of York, Adams and Franklin counties. She was also a life member of the VFW National Home, and a member of the Hanover AmVets Auxiliary Post #22, Harold H. Bair American Legion Post #14 Auxiliary and Hanover Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1406, where she was a Golden Eagle.
Survivors include her loving companion of 44 years, Leon G. Baker, Sr.; four children, Sandra Wilt of East Berlin, Patricia Therit of New Oxford, and Barry and Terry Baker, both of Hanover; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Geraldine Miller of Spring Grove.
The funeral will be held at 10 am Monday, February 9, 2015 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with The Rev. Timothy J. Kielley officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
