Kathern Lee Kirby Tomaszewski, of New Oxford, wife of John “J.T.” A. Tomaszewski, died Monday, December 7, 2015 at Hanover Hospital.   A native of Knox County, TN, Kathern was a daughter of the late Addie Ann Nipper. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Alvin D. Kirby, who died in 1972; a son, David Kirby; three step-sons, Charles, Rowland, and John Kirby; and two brothers and sisters. Kathern retired in 1998 from DAL Tile in Gettysburg, where she had been employed for 18 years. She was also a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Concord, TN.   In addition to her husband of 40 years, survivors include nine children, Raymond Clyde Kirby and his wife, Edie, of McKnightstown, Alvin D. Kirby, II and his wife, Linda, of New Oxford, Sherman F. Kirby and his wife, Deb, of Abbottstown, Kathy D. Smith and her husband, Bob, of New Oxford, Calvin L. Kirby and his wife, Janice, of Newburgh, G. Elaine Luther and her husband, Dave, of York Springs, Wayne Rodger Kirby of Hanover, Debra Sue Bollinger and her husband, Rodger, of Bendersville, and Linda L. Laughman of Spring Grove; two step-sons, Blaine A. Kirby of St. Thomas, PA and Jerry A. Kirby of Pines, TX; a step-daughter, Alphaetta Smith of Knoxville, TN; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great- great- grandchildren.   The funeral will be held at 11am on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at The Heidlersburg United Brethren Church, 2736 Heidlersburg Road, Gettysburg with Pastor Craig A. Loewen officiating. Burial will follow in Heidlersburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.   Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 924 N Colonial Avenue, York, PA 17403.
