Karen L. Groft, 56, of Hanover, beloved wife of James L. Groft, entered into God’s eternal care on Monday, May 28, 2018 at UPMC Pinnacle – Hanover following a lengthy illness.
Born on Tuesday, October 24, 1961 in Towson, MD, she was a daughter of the late Richard D. Bosley, Sr. and Mary C. Ford Bosley Turner. A 1979 graduate of Towson (MD) Senior High School, she was employed as a medical assistant at various doctors’ offices. Karen was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and enjoyed being outdoors, hiking, camping and gardening. Her greatest passion was spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of 22 years, are two daughters, Katie M. Sipling and her companion, Joseph E. Hench, and Cortney J. Ohl and her husband, Kevin, all of Hanover; three grandchildren, Matthew, Sophia and Greyson; three step-grandchildren, Caleb, Connor and Madelyn; a brother, Richard Bosley, Jr. and his wife, Bev, of Gambrills, MD; three sisters, Deborah Kress and her husband, Rick, of New Oxford, Donna Ebelein and her husband, Terry, of Joppatown, MD and Patricia Poole of Wake Forest, NC; two half brothers, Bill Dell Turner and his wife, Linda, of Cockeysville, MD and Joe Turner and his wife, Debbie, of Westminster, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, a memorial mass will be said at 11 am Friday, June 1, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road, Hanover by The Rev. Ryan M. Fischer. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with a prayer service at 8 pm.
