June F. Goodermuth

June F. (Gouker) Goodermuth, 95, of Littlestown and former longtime resident of Hanover, passed into God’s arms on Saturday, May 9, 2015.



Born on Wednesday, June 4, 1919 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Charles M. and Jennie (Sterner) Gouker. She was the loving wife of the late Roy W. Goodermuth to whom she was married to for 54 years, prior to his death in 1993; and was also preceded in death by a son, Ronald Goodermuth; two daughters, Sue Ann Goodermuth and Judith Goodermuth Neiderer; three sisters, Charlotte, Bernice and Gloria Gouker; and two brothers, Theron “Bud” Gouker and Russell Gouker.



June graduated from Gettysburg High School in 1937 and then attended the Harrisburg School of Nursing. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on York Street in Hanover for more than 60 years, serving on various committees throughout the years. She was a former member and volunteer with the Hanover Hospital Auxiliary, and was an active member of the Hanover Elks BPOE #763 Ladies Auxiliary for many years and was named “Lady Elk of the Year” in 1990.



Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Sutphin and her husband, Joseph, of Littlestown; a son-in-law, Joseph Neiderer of McSherrystown; eight grandchildren, Angie Welty and her husband, Rick, Pam Miller and her husband, Tom, Deb Stock and her husband, Earl, Jodi Schuman, Tammy Myers and her husband, Fred, Hope Groft and her husband, Tim Groft, Jr., Tony Schuman and his wife, Stacey, and Holly Sutphin; a step-grandson, William C. Neiderer and his wife, Sylvia; 12 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; special niece and caregiver, Jeannie Neiderer; close cousins, whom she considered to be a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Dennis Butt of South Carolina; and her beloved companion, Maggie.



A celebration of June’s life will be held at 1 pm Friday, May 22, 2015 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 127 York Street, Hanover with The Rev. Robert Hoover officiating. Burial will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church parlor and at a reception in the church fellowship hall following the cemetery committal service.
