June L. Bankard

June L. Bankard, 79, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Transitions Healthcare in Gettysburg.

Born Wednesday, December 4, 1935 in Littlestown, she was a daughter of the late Grover E. and Pauline Bemiller Bankard. She was a graduate of Eichelberger High School and was a member of Harvest Time Temple. Miss Bankard was a former employee of Chick Sales and the SmithKline Beecham Corporation. She enjoyed knitting and traveling in her younger years.

Survivors include two nieces, Kathleen D. Weaver and her husband, Mike, of Thomasville, and Debra K. Bortner and her husband, Gary, of Spring Grove; three nephews, Richard L. Forbes and his wife, Deb, of York, Donald R. Forbes, Jr. and his wife, Marcia, of Dover, and Mike D. Forbes and his wife, Kari, of Omaha, NE; and numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Forbes Hoover.

The funeral will be held at 11 am Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover, with The Rev. Fred Mummert officiating. Burial will be at 1 pm Saturday at Meadow Branch Cemetery, 818 Old Taneytown Road, Westminster, MD. The family will receive friends at a viewing to be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
