Joyce Elaine Zimmerman
Joyce Elaine Zimmerman, 66, loving wife of Michael R. Zimmerman of Hanover, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 8, 2011 at her home.
Born December 31, 1944 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Grover and Mildred Zepp Pascoe. She was a 1962 graduate of South Western High School and was a lifelong member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Zimmerman was an employee of the Borough of Hanover for 45 years, retiring in 2007 as the Borough Secretary. She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of the Hanover BPOE Lodge #763, was a treasurer for the Lake Marburg Chapter of the P. Buckley Moss Society, and was a former member of the Board of Directors of the YWCA in Hanover. She was an avid gardener and traveler, but especially loved being a grandmother.
In addition to her husband of 44 years, she is survived by a son, Ben Zimmerman and his wife, Carrie; two grandsons, Ryan and Bradley Zimmerman, all of Stanley, VA; and a sister, Iris Graybill and her husband, John, of Spring Grove.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 W. Chestnut Street, Hanover with The Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Yeiser officiating. Burial will follow in Marburg Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends 7-9:00 pm Tuesday at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover and 10-11:00 am Wednesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the PA Breast Cancer Coalition, 344 North Reading Rd., Ephrata, PA 17522, or to Pink Out of Hanover, PO BOX 740, Hanover, PA 17331, or to VNA Hospice of Hanover & Spring Grove, 440 N. Madison Street, Hanover, PA 17331.
