Joyce Harner Strausbaugh, 91, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at SpiriTrust Lutheran, The Village at Utz Terrace.
Born on Sunday, March 30, 1930 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Luther A. and Nina Stout Harner. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, William J. Strausbaugh, who died in 2015, and two sisters, Lois Jane Baker and Jean E. Bush . Joyce was a member of the Eichelberger High School Class of 1949, and with her strong underlying faith in God, she was a life member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school, was active with the ELCW and sang in the church choir. She was also instrumental in starting the bereavement luncheons at the church. A volunteer at Hanover Hospital, she was also a teacher’s aid in Hanover Public Schools. For more than 33 years, Joyce enjoyed taking bus trips with “Joyce’s Friends”.
Survivors include two daughters, Jane E. Dull, of Hanover, and Barbara Mentzer and her husband, Dennis, of Landisville; four grandchildren, Amy-Renee S. Dull and her significant other, Billy Kailing, Brant L. Berwager and his wife, Teresa, Brooks L. Berwager, and Bryan L. Berwager and his wife, Amanda; two great-grandchildren, Brandon and Ava Berwager; and a nephew, Lynn S. Baker.
The funeral will be held at 11 AM Thursday, May 20, 2021 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church with The Rev. Faye Snyder officiating. Burial will follow in York Road Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a viewing to be held from 9:30 to 11 AM Thursday at the church.
