Joyce Iona Gulden Seibert

Joyce Iona Gulden Seibert, 89, entered into God’s eternal care Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community.



Born January 21, 1921 in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Iona Houck Gulden. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Richard Merle Seibert, who died March 28, 2010; a sister, Rebecca J. Gulden and two brothers, James E. “Jim” Gulden and John L. “Jack” Gulden.



A 1939 graduate of Eichelberger High School, she was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church where she taught three year old children in Sunday School for more than 20 years. When her children attended Walnut Street Elementary School in Hanover, she was a member of the school PTO and served as a Brownie leader for several years.



Joyce loved watching and going to Baltimore Orioles games, and vacationing in Ocean City, MD where she could see “The Legends”. A music enthusiast, she especially enjoyed the Lawrence Welk Show and watching movie musicals. Her favorite snack was chocolate chip cookies, and being that her favorite color was red, she loved red roses. She loved her husband “Dick”, her children and grandchildren, and spending time with them all.



Survivors include three children, Michael R. Seibert and his wife, Linda L., Linda J. Crooks and her husband, Michael R., and Randy A. Seibert, and his fiancée, Debby M. Rommel, all of Hanover; two grandchildren, Jennifer D. Gilbert and her husband, Donald, of York Springs, and Dr. Todd M. Seibert and his wife, Dr. Jessica Emick, of Cleveland, Ohio; and one brother, Barry R. Gulden and his wife, JoAnn, of Hanover.



The funeral will be held 11 AM Thursday, October 21, 2010 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church with The Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Yeiser officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a viewing one hour prior to the service at the church.
