Joseph F. Crocken, 83, of Gettysburg, beloved husband of Marlene A. Crocken, passed away peacefully and entered into God’s eternal care on Monday, February 1, 2021 at WellSpan York Hospital.

Born on Tuesday, November 30, 1937, he was the son of the late William and Mazie Crocken. He is also preceded in death by two children, Robbin Hofferbert and Joseph Dewey. A member of the Catholic faith, he graduated from City College High School in Baltimore, MD, and worked as a Paper Distributor for the Baltimore Sun Paper Company for many years. A Civil War buff, he enjoyed searching for relics with his metal detector, painting and drawing.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Diana Kemp and her husband, William; son-in-law, Michael Hofferbert; six grandchildren, Shannon, Bill, Michael, Andrew, Joseph and Jacalynn; 11 great-grandchildren; his extended family; and many friends.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover, PA 17331. Services will be private. Burial will be held in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In compliance with health and public safety directives, those attending the viewing will be required to wear masks, be socially distanced and attendance inside the funeral home will be limited to 25 people at a time.
