John P. Wildasin

John P. Wildasin, 90, of Hanover, husband of Ruth M. Kitzmiller Wildasin, entered into God’s eternal care on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Hanover Hospital following a period of declining health.

Born on March 31, 1922 in Littlestown, he was a son of the late George and Mary Millheim Wildasin. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Wildasin and a sister, Myrtle Heindel.

At his core was a man of commitment, devotion and an unwavering work ethic. He began his long list of accomplishments by becoming an Eagle Scout. A 1940 graduate of Eichelberger High School, he was a builder and developer of real estate in the Hanover area for many years and retired in 1986 as the Chairman of the Board and President of First Federal Savings Bank of Hanover. He served with the US Army Air Corps during World War II, earning the rank of Second Lieutenant. Dedicated to his church, he was both a deacon and an elder at Trinity United Church of Christ. He also used his time and talents for the Hoffman Homes for Youth, where he held the position of Director for eleven years. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and birdwatching.

In addition to his involvement within the community, Mr. Wildasin was a trusted member of the Patmos Lodge #348 F &AM, where he was the Past Master in 1957 and served as trustee from 1960-1971. He was life member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Harrisburg and was a member of the Hanover Royal Arch Chapter #310, where he served he served as the M.E. High Priest and Grand Master of the Third Veil. He was Thrice Illustrious Master, Trustee of Penn Council #67 and member of the Council of Anointed Kings. He was an Eminent Commander of the Bethel Commandry #98 and Past Division Commander of the Grand Commandry of Knights Templar of PA. He was a Permanent Contributing Member of the Zembo Temple A.A.O.N.M.S.; Warrant Master of the Sovereign Council #103 A.M.D.; Preceptor for the Triune Tabernacle VII, H.R.A.K.T.P.; Celebrant for the Pennsylvania College, Masonic Society of Rosicrucians; Sovereign for the York Conclave, Red Cross of Constantine; and Member of the Penn Priory, York Cross of Honour.

Surviving, is his wife of 71 years, Ruth; and an extended family of nieces and nephews.

The Masonic Funeral Rite will be held at 1:30 pm Monday, November 5, 2012 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway with a celebration of his life to follow, officiated by The Rev. Brenda Marin. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery with military graveside rites being conducted by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Serving as pallbearers will be six of the Past Masters of Patmos Lodge #348: Victor K. Crooks, II, Bruce A. Markle, David A. Auchey, D. Samuel Sterner, Thomas E. Miller and Gary R. Bond. The viewing will be held 1 to 1:30 pm Monday at the funeral home.
