John K. Purcell

John Kenneth Purcell, 89, of Lecanto, FL, beloved husband of Helen E. Meadows Purcell, entered into God’s eternal care on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Brentwood Retirement Community.
Born on Sunday, January 23, 1927 in West Union, WV, he was a son of the late George and Myra Ravenscroft Purcell. John was a 1968 graduate of Kenwood High School in Middle River, MD and worked as an inspector and millwright for 38 years at Bethlehem Steel in Baltimore before he retired in 1992. He coached Little League Baseball for Kingsville Recreation from 1959 to 1966 and was a member of the Jephthah Lodge #222 AF & AM. He was a deacon for 44 years at Trinity Baptist Church in New Port Richey, FL and for many years at Boulevard Christian Church.
In addition to his wife of 71 years, survivors include two children, Carole L. Purcell and John Keith Purcell and his wife, Susan; one brother, William H. Purcell; two sisters, Mary Lou Wellman and Margaret Barhight; three grandchildren, Adam and Kelly Purcell and Megan Davis and her husband, Anthony; and one great-granddaughter, Olivia Davis.
A private service is planned.
