John G. Mckenrick

John G. McKenrick, 94, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at his home.

Born on Friday, August 16, 1929 in Gettysburg, he was the son of Gilbert Ignatuis and Mildred Teresa McKenrick. He was also preceded in death by his wife of nearly 50 years, Janet Marie McKenrick; and his sister, Katherine Decker Kemper. John was a 1947 graduate of Gettysburg High School and was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked for various shoe manufacturing companies before retiring from Hanover Shoe. John attended Calvary Assembly of God and Bethel Assembly of God. He enjoyed gardening, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and being outside. John was an avid fan and follower of Gettysburg Wrestling and enjoyed watching other sports. He will be remembered as being a loving and dedicated father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Survivors include his son, Kevin D. McKenrick and his wife, Cathy; two granddaughters, Nikki Monsell and her husband, Corey, and Courtney Strausbaugh and her husband, Dustin; three great-grandchildren, Chelsea Monsell, Jayden Strausbaugh, and Chloe Monsell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway. A visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Military honors will be rendered by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
