John G. “Gil” Bateman, Jr., 84, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Columbia Cottage.
Born on Wednesday, January 13, 1932 in Baltimore, MD, he was a son of the late John G. Bateman, Sr. and Elizabeth I. Linder Bateman. He was a 1950 graduate of the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and served our country with the US Air Force. After 21 years of service, Gil retired in 1990 from the Asphalt Institute in College Park, MD where he was a lab technician.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Laurel I. Bateman; four children, John G. Bateman, III, Elizabeth J. Milbourn and her husband, Eugene, all of Baltimore, David A. Bateman and his wife, Linda, of Shepherdstown, WV, and Jeffrey A. Bateman and his wife, Pam, of Marriottsville, MD; a brother, Raymond A. Bateman and his wife, Phyllis, of Baltimore; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
A cryptside service will be held at 11 am Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at the Garden of the Last Supper Mausoleum in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, with The Rev. Kate Schroeder officiating.
