Joan C. Thomas

Joan C. Thomas, 87, of Cross Keys Village, entered into God’s eternal care on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at The Brethren Home.

Born on Tuesday, August 11, 1936 in Baltimore, she was a daughter of the late W. Raymond and Caroline Dietz Thomas. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Alma Thomas and Claire Simms. Joan was a 1958 graduate of Notre Dame of Maryland University, and taught elementary education and specialized learning in public schools for eleven years. She later began a 30 year career with Verizon, retiring in 2000.

Joan is survived by a niece, Pamela Simms; cousins, John Dietz, Jane Piper and Mary Catherine (Camilla) Smith and Lawrence Smith; and special friends, Catherine Ward and Dixie Shaffer.

The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at the Nicarry Meetinghouse in Cross Keys Village, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, PA 17350. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens in Timonium, MD.
