Joan Roberta Cholet, 89, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at her home.
Born on Monday, December 28, 1931 in St. Louis, MO, she was a daughter of the late Leland L. and Anna Neidert Harbur. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Richard H. Cholet, who died in 2013. A 1949 graduate of the Rosati-Kain High School in St. Louis, Joan was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. As a devout Catholic, she was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she did volunteer work with the church’s Thrift Shop and the bereavement lunches. She was also an avid volunteer with the American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Days. She was an enthusiastic fan of St. Louis Cardinals baseball and Penn State football, and loved flower gardening in her spare time.
Survivors include three children, Jean DeLong and her husband, Brian; James Cholet, and Valerie Cholet; daughter-in-law, Laura Cholet; six grandchildren, Carrie Jonsson and her husband, Peter, Natalie DeLong and husband Derek, Michael Cholet and his wife, Lauren, Alexander Cholet and his wife, Lisé, Hannah Rowe, and Thomas Rowe; seven great-grandchildren, Halina and James Jonsson, Nicholas and Gabriella DeLong, Ella Cholet, and Luna and Jaxon Farrier; three sisters, Virginia Rippeto, Lorraine Miller and Leanna Finnegan; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Baudo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church by The Rev. Joseph F. Gotwalt. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
