Jim Buchanan, 54, of Rogersville, TN and formerly of Glen Rock, entered into God’s eternal care on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at his home.

Born on Sunday, October 2, 1966 in Westminster, MD, he was the son of the late Henry David Buchanan and Bethel Dodson Ebert. He was also preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

A 1984 graduate of Susquehannock High School in Glen Rock, Jim received an Associate’s degree from Yorktowne Business Institute and bravely served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army. Best known by his nicknames “Buck,” “Yankee,” and “Squirrel,” he was a friend to everyone he met and carried with him a generous, fun-loving spirit. He enjoyed fishing, painting, and landscape photography. An avid outdoorsman who was skilled with his hands, he was a handyman who helped build his father’s home. Jim loved music, especially bluegrass, and could be found every year at DelFest in Cumberland, MD.

Survivors include two sisters, Deanna Rice and her husband, Walt, of Aberdeen, MD and Jessica Ellis and her husband, Jamin, of Abbottstown; two nephews, Robbie and Zack Rice; a niece, Teagan Ellis; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2PM on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Harvest Time Temple, 700 Black Rock Road, Hanover with The Rev. Fred Mummert officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In compliance with health and public safety directives, those attending the service will be required to wear masks and observe social distancing.

Services in Rogersville, TN will be held at a later date.
