Jerry Miller

Gerald E. “Jerry” Miller, Sr., 71, of McSherrystown, husband of 40 years to Connie L. Carter Miller. passed away Monday, August 29, 2011 at his home following a period of declining health.



Born on October 31, 1939 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Lee J. and Verna A. Gorman Miller. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Miller and three sisters, Mavis Gigoli, Marilyn Mummert and Laverne Miller. He resided in the Burbank area of California, where he worked for his brother’s construction company, before returning to Hanover in 2005.



He was a member of the McSherrystown Moose Lodge 720, served as past governor of the Moose in California and was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles He enjoyed fishing and bowling at the Hanover Bowling Centre.



In addition to his wife of 40 years, he is survived by three daughters, Carol Leppo and her husband, Tyrone of Abbottstown, Rosemarie Miller and Barbara Miller; four sons, Rusty Hunt of FL, Edward A. Miller, Randy Wilson and his wife, Melissa of Missouri and Gerald E. Miller, Jr. of Spring Grove; two step-children, Linda Pilgrim and her husband, Mike of FL and Charles Cloin of CA; nine grandchildren, Tasha Yates, Erica Hollenbaugh, Pvt. Tyrone Leppo, Jr., Martina Wilson, Matraca Wilson, Randy Wilson, Jr., Rusty hunt, Jr. and Allen and Adam Miller; four great-grandchildren, Caleb and Jeremiah Yates and Wyatt and Tyler Hollenbaugh; two brothers, Elwood Miller and his wife, Helen of Littlestown and Rodney Miller and his wife, Joan of CA; and two sisters, Carolyn Johnson and her husband, Ken and Dolores Bachman and her husband, Ken, all of Hanover.



As per his wishes, no services are planned.



Memorial contributions may be made to help defray final expenses to Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover, PA 17331.
