Jeremy D. Kuhn, 45, of Brownstown, loving husband of Margery E. Barnes Kuhn, entered into God’s eternal care on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy following a courageous and determined battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Born on Wednesday, May 20, 1970, in West Chester, he was a son of Charles A. “Chill” and Carol A. Eckman Kuhn. He was a 1988 graduate of Coatesville Area High School and a 1992 graduate of Grove City College, where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He later became a Professional Engineer in 2002. He began his career at Reading Crane and Engineering Company and spent the majority of his career with American Crane and Equipment Corp. Diagnosed with MS in 1995, he continued to work and provide for his family in spite of his disability until 2013.
Jeremy was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church in Lancaster, where he taught Sunday School and was active with the Youth Group. His favorite place on this earth was Pocono Plateau, a United Methodist Camp, in Cresco, where he accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and where he met amazing friends who became family. Time spent there empowered him to live a life of faith.
One with a strong competitive spirit, he loved sports and was a four letterman in high school. His love for soccer continued throughout college and later he coached his children’s soccer teams. From board games to strategic puzzles, he was a determined opponent and always strived to win. He shared his smile with all and was quite the practical jokester. An avid stargazer, he took pride in being able to name each constellation and shared this passion with his children. He was fiercely devoted to his family and to God and was an inspiration to many.
In addition to his wife of 21 years and his parents, he is survived by three children, Sarah, Emily and Justin Kuhn, all of Brownstown; a brother, Jef Kuhn and his wife, Chris of Strasburg; a sister, Jana Stahl and her husband, Justin of Lancaster; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Kuhn of West Chester and a loving extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Chester and Jane Eckman.
A memorial service to celebrate Jeremy’s life will be held at 11 am Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at First United Methodist Church, 29 East Walnut Street, Lancaster, with The Rev. Joseph Dipaolo officiating. Burial will be held privately in the EcoEternity Forest at Pocono Plateau. Jeremy’s wishes were for the family and friends to fellowship and share stories from 6 to 8 pm, Tuesday in the Celebration Center of First United Methodist Church. Friends are welcome to park in the Church Parking Lot off of Lemon Street as well as the North Queen Street Parking Garage, 424 North Queen Street.
In keeping with Jeremy’s servant heart, he has asked that memorial contributions be made to Water Street Ministries, PO Box 7267 Lancaster, PA 17604.
