Jere R. Swam

Jere R. Swam, 84, loving husband of Vivian M. Raubenstine Wisensale Swam of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Homewood at Plum Creek.

Born August 12, 1928 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Roland E.S. and Grace Rettew Swam. He was a graduate of Eichelberger High School, Class of 1947, and York Junior College. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the US Army.

Mr. Swam was a former employee of Swam Electric, Harrisburg Auto Parts and retired in 1991 from Sealed Air Corporation. He was a member of Grace United Church of Christ and the Harold H. Bair American Legion Post # 14. He was a Scottish Rite Mason and held memberships with Patmos Lodge # 348 F&AM, Hanover Royal Arch Chapter # 310, Penn Council # 67, and the Zembo Temple.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of nearly 40 years, are his step-children, Ken Wisensale of Cape Coral, FL, Fay Emlet of Hanover, and Vicki Wertz and her husband, Jim, of Spring Grove; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A Masonic Funeral Rite will be held at 11:00am Friday, January 25, 2013 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover, followed by the funeral service officiated by The Rev. Dr. Bruce P. Bouchard. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends 10-11:00am Friday at the funeral home.
