Jeffrey L. Small

Jeffrey L. Small, 55, of Hanover, died Friday, July 1, 2016 in Glen Rock after sustaining injuries in a work related accident.

Born on Tuesday, October 25, 1960 in Gettysburg, he was a son of the late Charles F. Small, Sr. and Irene R. Wolf Small. A member of the 1978 class of South Western High School, he spent his career doing what he loved; driving trucks and hauling heavy equipment and had been employed by Eastern Caisson Corp. for the past three years. Jeff enjoyed the challenge of his jobs; the importance was not in the destination, but it was in the journey to get there. He liked the attention of turning heads and getting people to laugh. He had many friends who were family at the Hanover Hotel, the American Legion, and DJ’s (the old Pony Bar). He loved to shoot pool, throw darts and dance to classic country tunes.

He is survived by his fiancée of four years, Kelly A. Burgan; four brothers, Charles F. Small, Jr. and his wife, Kathy, of Hampton, MD, John A. Small of Waynesburg, Jerome “Pete” Small of Hanover and George E. Small and his wife, Michelle, of East Berlin; and his cat , Oscar and dog, Sandy.

The funeral will be held at 10 am Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover. Burial will follow in the New Lutheran Cemetery in Manchester, MD. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm and from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
