Jeannette G. “Jan” Rhoten, 79, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Friday, January 3, 2020 at UPMC Pinnacle Hanover.
Born on Thursday, December 12, 1940 in Burns, OR, she was a daughter of the late Frank William and Dorthea Biggs Groves. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Swinney; and a brother-in-law, Vincent Swinney. A very loving person, Jan worked as a paralegal for 35 years in Rockville, MD and enjoyed reading, dancing and baking birthday cakes and pies for her family. She attended St. Mark Lutheran Church in Hanover.
Survivors include her husband of 53 wonderful years, Robert “Bob” Rhoten; a beloved daughter, Carla R. McCormac and her husband, Pat, of Hanover; god-daughter, Monica Rhoten of West Chester; three grandsons, whom she loved dearly, Liam, Jared, and Ryan McCormac, all of Hanover; two nephews, Vince and Darren Swinney, both of Reno, NV; a niece, Crystal Woods of Reno, NV; two brothers-in-law, Bud Rhoten of Manchester, MD and Larry Rhoten and his wife, Peggy, of Hanover; two sisters-in-law, Gerry Rhoten of Frederick, MD and Nancy Rhoten of Manchester, MD; and two longtime friends, Rosalie Poudre and Brenda Melvin.
Services are private and will be held at a later date.
