Jeanne O’Connor, 88, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Homewood at Plum Creek.
Born on Wednesday, September 13, 1933 in Jersey City, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Antoinette Canzano Capasso. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Patrick J. O’Connor, Jr.; two brothers, Salvatore and Dominic Capasso; and two sisters-in-law, Eleanor and Emma Capasso.
A 1952 graduate of Henry Snyder High School in Jersey City, she was a member of the Catholic faith. Jeanne traveled and moved all across the east coast with her husband, Patrick. Through their nearly 30 years of marriage, Jeanne and Patrick had lived in Ithaca, NY, Point Pleasant, Freehold, and Morris Plains, NJ, and Cockeysville, MD, before settling down in Hanover. Jeanne enjoyed playing games, with her favorites being bridge, mahjong, and dominoes. However, her greatest joy came from cooking and baking for Sunday dinners and spending time with her family.
Survivors include five children, Kevin Michael O’Connor and his wife, Melanie, Michael Patrick O’Connor, Patricia Ann O’Connor and her husband, Ronald Zanzarella, Mary O’Connor Catanzaro and her husband, Dean, and Karen Beth Ebner and her husband, Frank “Chip”; three grandchildren, Kelly Anne Ebner, Alexander Patrick Catanzaro and his wife, Megan, and Gretchen Elise Ebner and her fiancé, Zach Kidd; a great-grandchild who is expected in December; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Annunciation Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 26 N 3rd St, McSherrystown, with The Rev. Richard Lyons celebrating. The family will receive friends at a viewing to be held from 4-6PM on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover. Burial will be private. For the health and safety of all attendees, the family requests that masks be worn and social distancing be observed.
