Janet B. Stauffer, 85, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Homewood at Plum Creek.
Born on Wednesday, January 28, 1931 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Oscar G. and Helen S. Thieret Blocher. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Paul A. Stauffer, Jr., who died in 2014. A 1948 graduate of Eichelberger High School, she was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. She was a member and past president of the Hanover Elks BPOE #763 Ladies Auxiliary, a past treasurer of the Hanover Mall Walkers, and was a past treasurer and former member of the Consistory of St. Bartholomew’s United Church of Christ. In addition, she was a member of the Instrumental Music Parents Club (Hanover Band Boosters), and the AARP # 2812.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan S. Mummert and her husband, Ray, and Patricia A. Stauffer; a brother, Larry G. Blocher and his wife, Doris, all of Hanover; four grandchildren, Mitchell Mummert of Hanover, Chad Mummert of Erie, Joseph Mummert, and Heather Stauffer, both of Hanover; and three great-grandsons, Jacob, Zachary and Bryce Mummert.
The funeral will be held at 11 am Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Trinity United Church of Christ with The Rev. Peg Grzelkowski officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a viewing to be held from 6 to 8 pm Monday at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover, and at the church one hour prior to the service.
