Jane Ellen Bunty McMaster, 52, of Gettysburg, loving wife of Donald G. McMaster, died unexpectedly on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at York Hospital following an accident at her home.
Born on Sunday, March 24, 1963 in Hanover, she was the daughter of Kitty Kretz Parrish of Hanover and the late Phillip D. Bunty. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Malaun and her husband’s parents, Donald E. and Roberta Wright McMaster.
A 1981 graduate of Hanover High School, she was employed by AquaPhoenix Scientific for the past eight years. She was previously employed by Freeman Shoe and United Natural Foods, where she served as supervisor. She was a member of the Hanover VFW Post 2506 and was a Green Bay Packers fan.
A hard worker with a compassionate heart, she took care of the sick and those who needed a smile. She made sure that people knew that they had a safe place to go at her house and she never passed judgment. She loved the camera and family and friends knew that when they developed their pictures, there would be at least one photo where she had taken a picture of herself. She delighted in making people laugh and some cake in the face always brought the levity to any situation. She enjoyed playing Bingo and bowling with her sisters. Spending time at the beach with the sand between her toes, planting flowers in her gardens, and mowing the lawn were some of her favorite things to do. She was the happiest when she was being a Nannie to her granddaughter.
In addition to her husband of 32 years and her mother, she is survived by two children, Benjamin Lee McMaster and Jessica Lynn Thompson and her husband, Bradley, all of the home; a granddaughter Peri Shaye Thompson; three sisters, Carol Nelson, Kathleen Redding and Susan Murray, all of Hanover; step-brother, Phillip D. Bunty of Newville and an extended family of nieces and nephews and in-laws.
The funeral will be held at 10 am Thursday, January 14, 2016 at New Hope Faith Community Church, 33 Sunday Drive, Hanover with The Rev. Timothy J. Kielley officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Redding, Derek Kuhn, Barry Finneyfrock, Lee Rollman, Tony Vito, Matt Nelson, Chris Bunty and Lenny McWilliams. The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm Wednesday at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover and Thursday at the church from 9 am until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions may be made in VNA Hospice of Hanover and Spring Grove, 440 North Madison Street, Hanover, PA 17331 or to the American Cancer Society, 924-N Colonial Avenue, York, PA 17403.
