James Glen Rhoten, Sr., 56, of Hanover, husband of Gay Mixell Rhoten, entered into God’s eternal care on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on October 20, 1956 in Snydersburg, MD, he was the son of Audrey E. Thompson Rhoten of Hampstead, MD and the late Carlin W. Rhoten. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Carvel D. Rhoten and a stepbrother, Wilbur Morris Gover.
A 1975 graduate of North Carroll County High School, he was employed by Hanover Wire Cloth for nearly 20 years. Most recently he was employed for nearly 12 years by The York Street Treat, where he was the night manager. He held memberships with AmVets Post #22, where he was once manager, the Harold H. Bair American Legion Post #14, McSherrystown Home Association and Hanover Loyal Order of Moose #227. He was an avid golfer, enjoying the Flatbush course and scoring a hole in one at Briarwood.
