Services: A memorial service to remember and celebrate his life will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at Trinity United Church of Christ, 116 York St., Hanover, PA with a masonic service by Patmos Lodge No. 348 F.&A.M. and military honors by the Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation: Visitation will be at the church Tuesday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M.
James H. Miner, 84, of Hanover entered into God’s eternal care Saturday morning, April 26, 2008, at The Brethren Home Community, New Oxford.He was the husband of Jean Sherman Miner to whom he was married over 62 years.Born in Carlisle, PA on May 25, 1923, he was the son of the late Paul D. and Ermal T. Miller Miner.Mr. Miner had owned and operated Miner’s Radiator Service for 25 years until retiring in 1983.From 1980 till the present, Mr. Miner was serving as a Constable for Penn Twp., York County.He was also well known as an Auctioneer, a profession he began in 1946. Mr. Miner will always be remembered as a thoughtful and kind person who helped to make Hanover the fine community that it is today. He served as Past President of the Baresville Elementary School PTA, 12 years on the School Board of South Western School District, as a member of the Penn Twp. Sewer Authority, and as Commissioner of Penn Twp. for an unexpected three month term.Mr. Miner was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ serving as both a Deacon and an Elder. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Patmos Lodge No. 348 F.&A.M. He was also a member of Hanover American Legion Post #14, Hanover Elks, Hanover Home Association, Hanover Republican Club, was a charter member and past president in 1976 of the Penn Twp. Lions, and was a life member of both the Pennville and Parkville Fire Companies.A veteran of World War II, Mr. Miner served his country with honor and pride in the South Pacific with the Merchant Marine.In addition to his wife, he will be sadly missed by two sons, James S. Miner and wife Darlene of Hanover, Michael S. Miner and wife Sandra L. of Hanover, 2 grandchildren James Miner and wife Anna, Kathryn Miner, a great grandson James Miner, 4 sisters Thelma Doll of Hanover, Melva Cockle of Gettysburg, Betty Shetter of Hanover, and Dorothy Jones of Hagerstown, MD. He was preceded in death by a sister Pauline Brown and a brother William Miner of Spring Grove. A memorial service to remember and celebrate his life will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at Trinity United Church of Christ, 116 York St., Hanover, PA with a masonic service by Patmos Lodge No. 348 F.&A.M. and military honors by the Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be at the church Tuesday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Burial will be private at Rest Haven Cemetery. The Rev. Karin Stork-Whitson will officiate.
