James S Krichten

James S. Krichten, Sr., 74, of McSherrystown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at York Hospital surrounded by his family following a sudden illness.

Born on May 22, 1936 in Bonneauville, he was a son of the late Joseph E. and Bernadette Gebhart Krichten and husband of over 45 years to the late Ferne Nunemaker Krichten, who died in 2005. He was also preceded in death by a sister Janet Wolfe and his twin great-granddaughters, Hope and Faith Riley, who died in infancy.

Mr. Krichten was employed as a truck driver by AG Com for over twenty years and was a member of Annunciation B.V.M. Church. He was also a member of Irishtown Fire Company and the McSherrystown Fish and Game Association. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and vacation to the mountains.

He is survived by two daughters, Kay Noble and her husband, Ronald of Gettysburg and Joan Riley and her husband, Rickey of Hanover; a son, James S. Krichten, Jr. and his wife, Wendy of East Berlin; six grandchildren, Dustin and Britany Noble, Coby, Zachary and Rickey Riley and Zebulon Krichten; seven brothers, Bernard, Raymond, Lawrence, Richard, Michael, Pat and Tom Krichten; and five sisters, Mary Leppo, Doris Sanders, Ruth Godfrey, Marie Sanders and Judy Treadway.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Annunciation B.V.M. Church, 26 North 3rd Street, McSherrystown with The Rev. Lawrence W. Sherdel serving as celebrant. Burial will follow in Conewago Chapel Cemetery with his grandchildren serving as the pallbearers. The family will receive friends at a viewing held from 6 to 8 PM Friday at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover with the Rosary being recited at 8 pm.
