James "Mike" Coates Sr.
James “Mike” Coates, Sr., 62, of Hanover, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at WellSpan York Hospital.
Born on Sunday, December 1, 1957 in Takoma Park, MD, he was the son of the late James Edward and Thomasina Whimpling Coates. A proud veteran, he served as an Airman First Class in the Air National Guard and enjoyed Texas Hold‘em, bingo, and fishing.
Survivors include two children, James M. Coates, Jr. of FL and Sarah Coates of York; ex-spouse and caretaker, Jacqueline Coates of Hanover; a brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Tugwell, Jr., and their children, Nicole, Melissa, Christopher, and Kimberly Tugwell.
Services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover, PA 17331, to help defray the final expenses.
