It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Joseph Bagley, a devoted father, decorated (infantry) Marine, and a cherished storyteller. Jimmy, aged 35, departed this world on October, 4, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of honor, love, and captivating tales that will forever be etched in our hearts.

Jimmy was born on June 29, 1988 to Paul Timothy Bagley and Theresa Anne Bagley in Washington DC’s Providence Hospital. From a young age, he displayed a zest for life that would come to define his character. After completing his education, Jimmy followed his calling and joined the United States Marine Corps, where he served with unwavering dedication and distinction. His valor and commitment earned him numerous awards and accolades, a testament to his courage and selflessness.

But beyond his military service, Jimmy was a loving and devoted father to his two children, Patrick Shawn and Catherine Lee Bagley. He cherished every moment spent with them, imparting his wisdom, kindness, and sense of adventure. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled in his children and the memories they shared together.

Jimmy was known for his remarkable ability to spin captivating tales, drawing in friends and family with his storytelling prowess. Whether gathered around a campfire or sharing anecdotes at family gatherings, his narratives had a magical way of bringing people closer together, creating lasting bonds and cherished memories.

He is survived by his loving mother Terry; his children; his loving siblings Molly Anne and Joseph Paul Bagley; his aunts, Helen, Sara, and Nancy; and a wide circle of friends and extended family who will forever hold him close in their hearts. He was welcomed into the afterlife by his dad Tim; his cousin, Tina Bell; and his grandparents.

A service to honor James Joseph Bagley's life will be held at 3 P.M. on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway. The family will receive friends at a viewing from 1-3 PM prior to the service.

James Joseph Bagley will be remembered as a courageous Marine, a devoted father, and a masterful storyteller whose tales will continue to resonate with all who were fortunate enough to hear them. Jimmy exemplified the true spirit of a Marine—unyielding in the face of adversity, steadfast in his commitment to duty, always ready to protect and defend. His unwavering dedication to his country and comrades will forever inspire us. Reminding us that the bond of brotherhood among Marines transcends time and space. He leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. May he rest in eternal peace. As we bid farewell to our dear brother, let us also remember the Marine Corps' motto, 'Semper Fidelis'—Always Faithful. Jimmy lived this creed, and his legacy will continue to embody it in our hearts.
