James J. (Jim) Alexander, 96, formerly of Whitesboro, NY, passed away at home on August 19, 2021 surrounded by his family.
Born on January 23, 1925 in Utica, NY, Jim was the son of the late Robert James and Katherine Collins Alexander. Jim proudly and humbly served in General Patton’s 101st Infantry, 26th Division during World War II, having received a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for his valor in the Ardennes and Rhineland Campaigns. He began his career as an electrician in 1945 and was a member of IBEW Local #43 in Syracuse, NY. Jim was a faithful Roman Catholic.
A devoted family man, Jim is survived by his wife of 71 years, Kathleen Fulton Alexander, three children, Peter (Woodbine, MD), David (Gettysburg, PA), Christine (Annapolis, MD); four grandchildren, Peter, Christopher, Michael, Sarah; and six great-grandchildren. His quiet wit, winning smile, and annual Irish blessings will be missed by all, including his extended family of friends.
Jim leaves a legacy of his love of family, family friends, hard work, and kindness.

Services and burial will be held in Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, consider donations to a charity or organization of your choice.
