Jacqueline Louise Hunter

Jacqueline Louise Hunter, 73, formerly of Abbottstown, died Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Homewood at Plum Creek following a period of declining health.



Born on February 22, 1938 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Wilson S. Markle and Hilda Erb Duttera. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Catherine Brumgard; a son, Timothy A. Brumgard; and a brother, Stanley E. Kopp.



She was employed by Uni-Mart, Inc. as a store manager from 1972 until her retirement in 2000. Active in several veterans’ organizations in the Hanover area, she was a lifetime member of Amvets Post 22, where she served as Treasurer for the Ladies’ Auxiliary for 20 years.



Survivors include a son, Kevin L. Brumgard and his wife, Mary of Etters; two daughters, Jody I. Himes and her husband, John of Hanover and Jennifer L. Albright of New Oxford; two brothers, Wilson E. “Clem” Markle and his wife, Shirley of Porters Sidling and Barry Markle of Hanover; a sister, Darlene M. Ketterman and her husband, Jack of Littlestown; five grandchildren, Lyndsay Himes Burr of Wellsville, NY, Travis and Tyler Brumgard of Hanover, Mason Brumgard of East Berlin and Leah Brumgard of Hanover.



A memorial service will be held at 10 am Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with The Rev. Kenneth S. Heasley officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.



Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3544 N. Progress Avenue, Suite 205, Harrisburg, PA 17110, to Homewood at Plum Creek Benevolent Fund, 425 Westminster Avenue, Hanover, PA 17331 or to any of the local veterans’ organizations.
