Jack Walsh, 93, of Hanover, joined the party on the other side on Friday, June 16, 2017 at Columbia Cottage following a brief illness.
Born on Saturday, July 21, 1923 in Chester, PA, he was the son of the late John Joseph Michael Walsh, Sr. and Delia McHale Walsh, and husband of nearly 49 years to the late Mary Ann Queenan Walsh, who died in 1996. He was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Michael Warehime and three sisters, May Walsh, Helen McMenamin and Ann Scott.
A 1941 graduate of Eddystone High School, he was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during World War II. He spent his career with Sinclair Oil Refinery which later became British Petroleum and retired in 1983 after 45 years of service. He was a member of Annuciation B.V.M. Church for 20 years and St. Joseph Catholic Church for the past two years. He was a man who lived his faith; he was a good neighbor, was kindhearted and generous, was hardworking and was unfailingly polite. He held memberships with the Knights of Columbus #2551 and the Littlestown VFW Post #6954. Following his retirement, he took up the game of golf after his wife’s request. He loved the game and could be regularly found at Flat Bush Golf Course. He was skilled with his hands and mind and could fix anything that was broken. His grandchildren called him “Mr. Wonderful.”
He is survived by a daughter, Patricia Warehime of Hanover; two sons, Michael Walsh of Chicago, IL and Martin Walsh and his wife, Judi of Brookhaven, PA; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Joseph McMenamin of Stuart, FL, several nieces and nephews and an extended Irish family.
