James Harold Pitman, 84, of Hanover, was escorted to his Heavenly home by God’s angels on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at his home.
Harold was born on Sunday, April 20, 1930 in Marion, North Carolina. After serving in the US Navy for seven years in Korea and Vietnam, he relocated to Sparrows Point, Maryland and worked at Bethlehem Steel Corporation until his retirement. He later moved to Hanover, Pennsylvania in 1996 and was a member of Manchester Baptist Church and the Patmos Lodge #348 F&AM.
Surviving are his loving and devoted wife, Mildred Elaine Achey Pitman; a daughter, Sheila Dawn Baker and husband, Howard; and granddaughter, Elizabeth Baker; a step-daughter, Kimberly Lynne Zublick Holstein and husband, Stanley, all of Baltimore, MD. He is also survived by his 95 year old brother, Frazier Pitman of Rutherfordton, NC; and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews living in Rutherfordton and Red Lion, PA.
The funeral will be held at 11 am Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Manchester Baptist Church with The Rev. David Scafide officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 5 to 8 pm Friday at the Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover and one hour prior to the service at the church. A Masonic service will be held at 8 pm Friday at the funeral home.
