Irene May Keating Jones, 55, of Abbottstown, beloved wife of Luke Jones, entered into God’s eternal care on Tuesday, May 28th, 2024.
Born on Thursday, December 12th, 1968 in Hanover, she was a daughter of David R. Keating, Jr. and Rosy Burgard Keating both of Hanover. Irene attended St. Joseph School and graduated from Delone Catholic High School in 1986. She worked several years at PH Gladfelter in Spring Grove and more recently the past 25 years at Treehouse Foods in Hanover along with her closest friend, Kristen Dubs. Irene was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She took pleasure in many things that she loved, including crocheting, reading, painting, cross-stitching, baking cakes, collecting hand-made gnomes, and going to bingo with her closest friends. Irene always made sure to make anyone around her feel special, especially her family and friends. She was the foundation of her family, providing them with everything they needed. One of her favorite things to do is travel with her best friend, Kristen Dubs, on their yearly trips to celebrate their December birthdays. Irene loved with her whole heart, her laughter is unforgettable, and her voice will forever be embedded in her family and friend’s hearts.
In addition to her parents and Luke, her husband of 35 years, she is survived by a son, Cole Wayne Jones; a daughter, Teale May Jones; a sister, Denise June Slee and her husband, James, and their daughter, Riley; a brother, David Raphael Keating III; her mother and father-in-law, Robert and Phyllis Jones; brothers-in-law, Matthew and Mark Jones; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her best friend, Kristen Dubs. Irene was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Kurvin and Betty Burgard; and her paternal grandparents, David Keating, Sr. and Mary Keating.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road in Hanover by the Rev. Samuel Miller. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the mass.
