Irene May Conway

Irene M. Runkle Conway, 89, beloved wife of Dr. Samuel A. Conway, entered into God’s eternal care Monday, April 25, 2011 at Cross Keys Village—The Brethren Home Community.



Born July 26, 1921 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Paul S. and Gertie J. Geisler Runkle. She was a 1938 graduate of Eichelberger High School.



Mrs. Conway was the administrator of the former Golden Age Nursing Home for 32 years retiring in 1982, and had also served as an accountant in her husband chiropractic practice for several years. She was a member of St. Paul’s (Dubs) United Church of Christ, the Hanover Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star #378, the YWCA, the Hanover Garden Club, the Hanover Chapter of AARP #1842, and the Soroptimist Club of Hanover where she served as a past vice president. She was a past president Chiropractic Auxiliary of Pennsylvania, and was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Practical Nursing Program in Hanover.



Surviving, in addition to her husband of 66 years, is her son, Samuel A. Conway, Jr. and his wife, Wanda; and two granddaughters, Amber Rose Conway Bowers and Casey Marie Conway all of Spring Grove.





The funeral will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, April 29, 2011 at St. Paul’s (Dubs) United Church of Christ with The Rev. Larry Estepp officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Paul’s (Dubs) Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a viewing from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday evening at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover.



In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s (Dubs) United Church of Christ, 1958 Dubs Church Road, Hanover, PA 17331.
