Howard M. Brown, 86, of New Oxford, PA, formerly of Maryland, entered into God's eternal care 11:05 P.M. Sunday evening, September 9, 2007 at The Brethren Home Community, New Oxford, PA. He was the loving husband of Mary Alice (Rebert) Brown to whom he was married over 61 years. Born in Baltimore, MD on November 18, 1919, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Frances Brown. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Brown served his country with duty, honor and pride as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. He had been employed over 40 years for Koppers, Inc. formerly of Towson, MD. and was a member of Local Lodge #1784 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. Mr. Brown was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister-in-law, Doris Owings of Westminster, MD, 6 nephews, 4 nieces, 18 grandnieces/grandnephews, 17 great-grandnieces/great-grandnephews. Services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial at St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Westminster, MD. Pastor Merv Wunderlich will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 924 N. Colonial Ave., York, PA 17403.
