Hilda L. Hockensmith, 86, of Waldorf, MD, formerly of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the Fenwick Landing Senior Care Community in Waldorf.
Born on Friday, February 22, 1935, in Winchester, VA, she was a daughter of the late Carl Parrill, Sr. and Zelma Bierkamp Parrill. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Donald R. Hockensmith, who died in 2017; a son, Randal Hockensmith, who died in 2018; a brother, Carl Parrill, Jr.; two sisters, Betty Knaub and Virginia Shearer; and a beloved aunt, Betty Marshall. She enjoyed spending time with her family and caring for her pets.
Survivors include a son, Ronald Hockensmith, of Hanover; a daughter, Susan Hockensmith and her wife, Jackie, of Waldorf, MD; two granddaughters, Shannon Delp and Nicole Hockensmith; four great-grandchildren, Alanis Mizrachi, Zachary Linville, and Waylon and Luke Wyatt; a great-great-grandson, Ledger Mizrachi; a sister-in-law, Colleen Parrill; a special niece, Vickie Shasty; and a beloved neighbor, Mark Loder.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 11AM at Marburg Memorial Gardens, 2510 Grandview Road, Hanover with The Rev. James Gibbons Walker officiating. For the health and safety of all attendees, the family requests that masks be worn.
