Hilda D. Becker, 81, of New Oxford, loving wife of Warren T. Becker, entered into God’s eternal care on Monday, September 20, 2010 at Hanover Hospital following an unexpected illness.
Born on August 2, 1929 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Gertrude May Stambaugh Markle. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Yvonne Eileen Becker, a brother, Ralph Edward Markle and a sister, Mildred Muller.
Prior to her marriage, she was employed by Hanover Wire Cloth, and after raising her family, she later retired in 1993 from SKF Industries, Inc. following 23 years of service.
In addition to her husband of 57 years, she is survived by two sons, Warren Becker, Jr. and his wife, Claudette of Chicago Heights, IL and Ralph E. Becker and his wife, Robin of Hanover; a daughter, Coleen Diane Dominguez and her husband, Arthur of New Oxford; a brother, John Markle of Hanover; three sisters, Ethel Brownwell of Moulstown, Nadine Nobel of Hanover and Loretta Bookman of New Oxford; eleven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren, with a third great-grandchild due at the end of September.
The funeral will be held 1 PM Friday, September 24, 2010 at the Nicarry Meetinghouse, Cross Keys Village—The Brethren Home Community, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford with The Rev. Merv Wunderlich officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Abbottstown. The family will receive friends at a viewing from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover.
