Herbert H. Hoover, 83, of Spring Grove, passed away peacefully Monday, February 4, 2013 at Hanover Hall Nursing Center.



Born March 12, 1929 in Spring Grove, he was a son of the late Samuel M. and Virgie Becker Hoover. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Clair Hoover; and three sisters, Gladys Miller, Beatrice Rohrbaugh and Anna Wilt. Mr. Hoover was a former employee of Hanover Foods, where he had worked for 33 years, and received the Silver Star while serving with the US Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed hunting in his younger years.



Survivors include three nephews, Joseph A. Wilt, Michael L. Wilt and Darrell L. Hoover; three nieces, Mary DeHoff, Caroline Trone and Anna L. Wilt; his special friends, Tim and Missy; and his beloved cat, Boots.



A funeral will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Mount Carmel Lutheran Church, 1398 Moulstown Road, Hanover with The Rev. David L. DeLong officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors rendered by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Viewings will be held 6-8 pm Friday at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover and 10-11 am Saturday at the church.



In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the York Co. SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17402
