Herbert F. “Herb” Klein, 81, of Hanover, loving husband of Naomi Baker Klein, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at UPMC Pinnacle Harrisburg.
Born on Monday, December 13, 1937 in Raspeburg, MD, he was a son of the late Adam John and Rose Mary Lang Klein. Herb was a 1957 graduate of St. Joseph Catholic School in Emmittsburg and proudly served his country in the US Army. Employed by Black & Decker for 25 years, he later owned and operated Klein’s Auto Salvage in New Oxford for 26 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hanover, and was a life member and Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council # 871. He was also a member of the Hanover Knights of Columbus Home Association. Herb loved to play cards and was an avid car enthusiast.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 58 years, are four children, Jeffrey Klein, Vanessa Warner, Jarrod Klein, and Jennifer Weaver and her husband, Michael Weaver, Jr.; ten grandchildren, Samantha, Chastity, Codye, Mark, Jarrod Klein, II, Ana, Michael, Vanessa, Valerie and Autumn; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Howard and Michael Klein; a sister, Rose “Sis” McLaughlin; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Virgil Wade Klein; a grandson, Justin Lee Klein; brothers, Robert, Joseph, Elmer and Adam Klein; and sisters, Mary Voelker and Jeannette Lewelling.
A gathering of family and friends will take place from 3 to 5 PM Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at the Railside Family Diner, 241 N. Railroad Street, Hanover.
