Helen V. Wood

Helen V. Wood, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care Sunday, April 11, 2010 at Hanover Hall. She was the beloved wife of 56 years to the late Donald M. Wood, who died in 2004.



Born in York, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Elfner Brandt, and was also preceded in death by her half-brother, Donald Loucks. Mrs. Wood was a 1944 graduate of the former William Penn High School in York. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, served as a greeter at Wal-Mart for many years, and was a former “Gray Lady” at Hanover Hospital.



Survivors include her three daughters, Marsha Campbell and her husband, Graham, of Hanover, Rebecca Stock and her husband, Bruce, of New Oxford, and Michele Smith and her husband, Donnie, of Hanover; four grandchildren, Melanie Cooley and her husband, Jeff, Mandy Smith, Andrew Campbell and his wife, Holly, and Matthew Smith; and two great-granddaughters, Shanya Smith and Taylor Cooley.



Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at St. Mark Lutheran Church with The Rev. Kirk A. Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the church prior to the service.
