Helen R. Sabaka, 97, of Hanover, passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Monday, April 24, 2017 at Hanover Hall Nursing Center.
Born on Wednesday, April 21, 1920 in Massillon, OH, she was a daughter of the late Norman O. and Lena C. Porr Lamb. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Eileen R. Sabaka and a brother, Roy Lamb. A 1939 graduate of Washington High School in Massillon, Helen served actively on various committees at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on York Street in Hanover, where she also was a devoted member. Helen was primarily a homemaker, but in her later years, she was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, where she would drive and take cancer patients to Philadelphia, York, and Baltimore Hospitals.
She will be lovingly missed by her daughter, Joan L. Larsen and her husband, Walter, of Lititz; her son, Norman G. Sabaka and his wife, Judy, of Hanover; and her grandson, Walter Larsen of Lititz; and many surviving members of the Sabaka and Lamb Families of Hanover.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Hanover Hall Nursing Center for their tireless and compassionate care that they had given to Helen throughout the years that she had stayed there. The family would also like to thank Diane Crites and Vicki Hart Lamb for their consistent kindness to their mother.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with The Rev. E. Robert Burkhart officiating. Inurnment will be held privately.
