Helen Blum Lay, 84, of Hanover, beloved wife of John G. Lay, Sr., entered into God’s eternal care on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Hanover Hospital.
Born on Friday, July 22, 1932 in Baltimore, MD, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Angelina Gostomski Szymanski, and was also preceded in death by six siblings. Helen was a member of the St. Vincent dePaul Parish.
In addition to her husband of 30 years, survivors include three children, Lorraine Blum of Liverpool, NY, Gerard Blum and his wife, Donna, of Glenville, and Christopher Blum and his wife, Barbara, of Pasadena, MD; eight grandchildren, Kimberly and David Kailer, and Zachary, Robert, Ryan, Sean, Patrick, and Michael Blum; one brother, Joseph Szymanski and his wife, Helen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 11 am Thursday, September 15, 2016 at St. Vincent dePaul Church, 220 Third Street, Hanover celebrated by The Rev. Michael P. Reid, II. Burial will follow in St. Vincent’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a viewing held from 6:30 to 8:30pm Wednesday at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover, with a recitation of the Rosary at 8:30pm.
