Helen May Dubs, 89, of Hanover, passed away peacefully Friday, February 8, 2013 at Homewood at Plum Creek following an eight month period of declining health.
Born on July 25, 1923 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Paul R. Wildasin and Esta Saltzgiver Wildasin Hampshire and the wife of over 62 years to the late Gerald W. Dubs, who died in 2004. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Auchey.
Mrs. Dubs was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and the Ladies Auxiliaries of the Hanover Elks BPOE # 763 and Hanover Lions Club. Having an artistic eye, she enjoyed painting in oil and making jewelry. She was reknown for her collection of Santa sculptures made from oyster shells and sold them in local boutiques as well as shops in Cape May and Stone Harbor.
Survivors include her two sons, W. Barry Dubs and his wife, Sharon, of Hanover and Randall W. Dubs and his wife, Lisa, of York; one brother, Kenneth Wildasin and his wife, Shirley, of Hanover; two half-sisters, Lorraine Nace of Hanover and Betty Gillette of York; three grandchildren, Christopher B. Dubs and his wife, Sherry, of New Oxford, Angela M. Stallard of Asheville, NC, and Ryan M. Dubs and his wife, Nichole, of Nebo, NC; two step-grandchildren, Jeremy R. Gallagher and his wife, Jessie, of Hanover and Bryan J. Gallagher of East Berlin; one great-grandson, Brandon Dubs; and two step-great-grandchildren, Adalynn and Declan Gallagher.
The funeral will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday, February 11, 2013 at Homewood Chapel at Plum Creek with The Rev. Peg Grzelkowski officiating. Burial will follow in Marburg Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at a viewing one hour prior to the service at Homewood Chapel.
