Harvey E. Shaeffer, 83, of Hanover, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at Hanover Hospital. Born March 20, 1925 in Adams County, he was a son of the late Leonard David and Lottie Mae Shaeffer. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, whom he admired greatly, Ruth N. Shaeffer, who died in 2007; and a sister, Grace Eltz. Mr. Shaeffer retired after 23 years of service from McClaren Plastics, and was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.Survivors include his daughter, Shirley Smiley of Hanover and her children, Kristi, Kelly, Wendy and Michael; a sister, Dorothy Alban and her husband, Norman, of Abbottstown; three brothers, Robert “Bob” Shaeffer and his wife, Shirley, of Littlestown, Clyde Shaffer and his wife, Lois, and Samuel Shaeffer and his wife, Brenda, all of Hanover; and several nieces and nephews.
