Harold Lee Shorb

Harold Lee Shorb, 77, of Hanover, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023 at his home.

Born on Monday, February 11, 1946 in Frederick, MD, he was the son of the late Harold Augustus and Kathryn Ellen Lenhart Shorb. He was also preceded in death by his wife of nearly 52 years, Rebecca Yates "Becky" Shorb, who died May 26, 2023. Harold was a graduate of the former Thurmont High School and from Frostburg University. He and Becky met in 1968 and they married at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Cumberland, MD on June 19, 1971. It was on their honeymoon through New England and maritime Canada that they fell in love with Maine. Upon retirement, they realized a dream of 30 years when they purchased a cottage on Damariscotta Lake in Jefferson, ME and resided for six months of every year.
Harold retired from West Frederick Middle School where he was an eighth grade social studies teacher. He was a member of the Exchange Club of Hanover and had a passion for cooking, art, antiques, and his cats. He had an incredible memory of people and history.

Survivors include several cousins and many devoted friends.

A visitation will be held from 12 to 1:00PM on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Resthaven Funeral Home & Community Center, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway, Frederick, MD 21701. A memorial service will begin at 1pm with a graveside service immediately following.
